OUR STUDENTS

Our Studio

Our spacious one room shala is located inside a 100-year old Spanish revival building in beautiful historic Springfield. Our studio features Green Guard certified flooring, an upgraded air purification system, high ceilings and natural light. We believe this calm and inviting environment is the perfect place to practice yoga.

Please bring water and a yoga mat. Mats are available to use in limited quantities, but we encourage yoga students to bring their own yoga mat for class.

Classes draw from a variety of lineages including iyengar, ashtanga, vinyasa, restorative and yin yoga. They begin on time so please arrive about 10 minutes prior to the posted class start time to check in with your teacher and settle in to the space.

You do not need any fancy “yoga clothes” - just wear whatever is comfortable and conducive to breath and movement.

The studio temperature is comfortable - warm, not hot - and use infrared heat only for specific offerings as noted.

We are proud to have some of the highest qualified yoga teachers in the area, several of whom join us with decades of experience. Please do not hesitate to ask questions before or after class. We are here for you.

A yoga asana (physical) practice can mean different things to different people. If you’re here to sweat, great. If you’re here to improve your alignment in warrior 1, fantastic. If you’re here to zone out for an hour, that’s cool too. All are welcome. Always.

Our Founder

Hi, I’m Sonia.

I am a seeker. I believe deep, sustainable change starts from within - and it helps to have people in your corner. It is my mission to create a safe space in which myself and a select group of phenomenal teachers can share the many benefits a regular yoga practice has to offer.

I started practicing yoga and meditation in NYC and DC over fifteen years ago when I was an overworked, overwhelmed and easily distracted 20-year old with big ambition, a lot of self doubt, and a penchant for partying. Yoga gave me a chance to catch my breath, observe and realign. It taught me how to listen on a deeper level. And through this practice I was able to find profound peace within myself and the world around me.

During this transformative time, I learned from outstanding teachers and earned over 500 hours of accredited yoga teacher training. I taught hundreds of classes and workshops at a variety of studios in DC and Florida, absorbing as much knowledge and experience as I could along the way.

I created Bold City Yoga to provide yoga classes and workshops backed by a clear value system and a strong sense of community where all are welcome to gather under one roof - embodying the spirit of a seeker. We offer a variety of different classes and events throughout the week, from gentle restorative yoga to the most vigorous and physically challenging led practice, and everything in between - stemming from a variety of yoga asana traditions. We also offer workshops, wellness events, and guest teachers throughout the year.

Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned practitioner, we are honored to be a part of your journey. I look forward to seeing you on the mat.

Yours in practice,

Sonia
